Dan Pitt’s Opinionated Compendium of Downtown Palo Alto Restaurants
Since its renovation, Siam Royal has transformed a broken-up, awkward space into quite a nice one. They offset the horizontal narrowness with relieving verticality, and the darker themes suggest a more serious approach to dining. But not too serious. The food still comes out fast and hot, and I think they balance the spice pretty well. The food itself often warrants a high degree of heat but diners tend to be more conservative, so it’s good that the push the envelope just a bit. I like it when a restaurant challenges me a little.
